February

This month went by so fast. I had to work in the office this month instead of at home so getting up extra early to get ready, the drive in to work, the drive home, and the fact I was exhausted after being gone all day led to February slipping away very quickly. Luckily Tommy was still home 3 out of the 4 weeks so he and Hudson had a lot of playtime :) The other week, he got to spend a lot of time with my mom and dad. It's so nice that my mom has an in home daycare. I'm really lucky for Hudson to be with someone we both love and trust and who loves him, and doesn't charge me :)

We didnt do any big celebration for Valentine's day. We made some Valentine's cards for Hudson's friends, with tattoos included. Hudson loved wearing the tattoos on his belly. :) Tommy and I went to dinner one night by ourselves and I made cookies and let Hudson ice and sprinkle them.

Hudson has been going to a gymnastics class the past 3 saturdays. It is really a few mats and a rebounder set up in a room and they let the kids run around and do whatever they want. They get the parachute out for the last 10 minutes and then clean up. I really like that it's not super structured. I think it's a little early for it and I think I would just be stressed trying to make him do what theyre supposed to. So for now, it's more of a play group, which I'm fine with too.

He has definitely figured out what he does and doesn't like. Here are some examples of likes:

Hudson loves pizza.

He loves spaghetti.

He loves chicken fingers.

He loves fruit snacks.

He loves popsicles.

He loves his paci. (We have only been giving it to him for naps and bedtime.)

He loves his blankie.

He loves his new wrinkle dog.

He loves to play Wii.

He loves to read books.

He loves bathtime.

He loves his Daddy!

He loves his Momma!

Tommy's birthday was this month too. He turned 26 on the 20th. We celebrated with his family at Texas Roadhouse for lunch and went out with some of our friends downtown that night. We ate dinner at Scotty's, a college favorite, and then played some games at Jillian's. Then we ended by going to lunch on Sunday at Cow Palace in Shelbyville. It's a really small place with good tenderloins and great ice cream. I think the weekend and this month was a success, even though it went fast! Welcome March and warmer weather!

Last week

Last week Hudson did NOT feel well at all. The dr said it was just a cold. This poor little face broke my heart. His eyes were swollen, nose runny and throat sore. He had an awful cough too. But....

He's been feeling much better! Thank you Lord for making my baby better.
I don't think I could take much more of hearing him feel that way :)

Free Day

I love free activities. But the down side is they are usually very crowded. MLK jr day is free at the Children's Museum. So we thought we would try it. We thought if we waited and went later in the day, it wouldn't be as crowded. I would say it worked, for the most part :) We got a good parking spot in the free garage and walked over and got to play at the exhibits we wanted to. We were only there a little over 2 hours, but that is plenty of time for a 16 month old. My brother went too. He's 10 and probably could've stayed a little longer, but no big deal. Hudson was ready to go and we were all ready to eat by 5. By the time we ate and got home I was exhausted! It's a lot to work 8 hours and go to the museum all in one day, but I couldn't beat the price! :)
A few pictures from the day:

Train with Daddy

Hudson is really into 'ChooChoo's' Right now. We recently put my brother's old train table in our living room and he plays with it the majority of the day. I'm thankful my mom saved it. The tables and the trains are not very cheap!

A new year.

Alright, It's 2010 and I'm going to blog this year. Period. (Just so you know, I'm laughing at myself right now for saying that.)

We took a trip to Great Wolf Lodge for the New Year. It was so much fun! This was in the hotel room where they provided us with really cool hats :) Hudson had so much fun! He loves the water and even went down the toddler slides. He would float in his life jacket and splash anyone and everyone. It is a really fun family place and we can't wait to go back!

Hudson

He is getting so big! Well not physically. He is on the lower end of the percentile for his age, so at this point in his life he is taking after me. A growth spurt may change that later in life, but we don't care if he's small. He is talking so much. He will tell you all kinds of stuff and repeat anything and everything you tell him to. He is really in to playing rough with Tommy and rolling around on the floor or jumping off of the fireplace hearth or flying into his ball pit. He loves his cars right now too. He has a little ramp for his Chuck cars and he plays with it for hours a day. He's a wild man, but a total Mama's boy.Looking through the ball pit window

Our most recent adventure was last monday morning. Hudson had to have tubes put in. Everything went pretty well and he was only gone from us for about 15 minutes even though we were there 3 hours. He had a reaction to the anesthesia that night and was sick, but other than that, all went well. Hopefully they will rid us of all the ear infections forever! One can hope!

Waiting to go back to surgery

SNOW

We took Hudson out to play in the snow last week for the first time. He was so excited to get all dressed up and after about 20 minutes of putting on layer after layer, we headed out with his new sled. He had a blast, but it was cold and windy so after about 20 min we came in. At least we stayed out as long as it took to get dressed. I loved seeing him bundled so thick he could barely walk and try to throw snow at me with his mittens. It was a lot of fun!

I'll leave you until next time with this video of Hudson's extreme jumping from the fireplace. :)

Zzzzz

Hudson has been having a lot of trouble with his sleep schedule lately. Mainly, night time is the problem. He has always been a night owl. When most babies have bedtimes of 7:30, 8:00, or even 9:00, Hudson has always stayed up until then or later and we have had to rock him and make him go to sleep. I guess we have brought this on ourselves in a way, because we never put him in his crib awake. We have always rocked him or let him fall asleep and then put him in his crib. C'mon, he's our first and we are major softies! But anyway, lately he has stayed up until 11:00 on average! I am usually so tired and just can't handle it anymore that I end up getting frustrated and make him sit on my lap and cry and it's so awful! I just wish there was an easier way! For the last few months he has become so much more independent and gets a major temper when he doesn't get what he wants. Hmm wonder where that came from?? Not me, that's for sure!! So going to bed is no different. If I sit him on my lap, he will scream and wiggle and throw arms so hard that I have to put him down! I guess all of it is just a sneak peak of what is to come in the terrible 2's. I know we will get through it and eventually he will go to bed at a normal child bedtime, but until then Ill just have to look at the bright side and savor those weekend mornings when we get to sleep in until after 9! Ahh how refreshing! :)

How could I be negative at all about anything though, when I get to see this in the mornings...

I give up...

So I give up on trying to do this whole monthly thing and catch up to currently. I have wanted to blog something every day for the past week and then I remember, ugh, I cant because I still have 11 months to finish first and I really just dont want to get into it right now. So ya know what, forget it! I am going to put up a picture of every month of Hudson, though. One that was a favorite, and then I'm moving to the present! I know, how exciting that you finally get to know what is going on in our lives right now. Get ready!!

PS I also give up on trying to fix the spacing. Enjoy!

First Month of Hudson

I'm going to try to go through each month of Hudson's life and hopefully catch up to his current age soon. So here goes Hudson's first month :)

Hudson was such a wonderful baby in this first month of life. He still is wonderful, but in a different way. He was never a screamer and was happy 95% of the time. He was in the 90th percentile for Height and weight. Here are some of my favorite pictures of him at this age.

So there it is. I know I left out a lot, but that first month home was soo exhausting and I really wasn't even able to walk without cringing until about the 4th week. I have quite a few more pictures, but cant post them all. These will just have to do. :)
